This course provides an introduction to new and developing digital technologies through historical, theoretical, and critical perspectives on media, culture, and society and includes basic concepts in software systems, communication design and digital media creation.
In this class, our production methods are informed by intermedia practices including web-based, non-linear narratives, site-specific installations, interactive performances, and works that make use of mobile technologies.
Interfaces, Interactivity, and Digital Storytelling are our three main areas of inquiry.
For the unit on Digital Storytelling, our class is conducting a 6-week collaborative project with the National Film Board of Canada around the theme of micro-communities.
